Festive BARBECUE with GYPSY-ORCHESTRA at riversite 'Ayious'

This excursion is a festive outdoor happening with traditional music. First Yiannis will take you shopping in the village of Parakalamos to buy the ingredients. Then you will prepare the fire and the food for the barbecue at the riversite ‘Ayious’. This particular spot along the river Gormos, is a real paradise. In summertime it’s nice and cool. If you wish, you can take a bath in the river. The water is very cold and very clean, because it comes straight from the source and is drinkable.
During mealtime the trio of Yiannis Chaldoupis will play the typical songs of Epiros. In Epiros every party begins with mirologia, sad songs and slowly the music changes into dance music. They also use polyfonia, multiple voices.

Duration of the excursion: 5 hours.
Costs: € 200,-, to be divided among the participants. This does not include the costs of the food.

Somewhere in nature Yiannis is going to play his clarinet for you. A free improvisation with a Byzantine touch. Find the inner peace with nature and music.

General information:
- It’s important to wear appropriate shoes: hiking boots or sneakers will do.
- Participation of children is possible. If the children are very young, please let Yiannis know. The same counts for people who have reduced mobility. Participation is free for children up to 12 years, kids from 12 to 17 years old pay half price.
- Due to weather condition, it can happen that an excursion is not possible on the planned date. We try to find another activity or another date.
- We expect you come to Parakalamos, where Yiannis lives, with your own transportation. It’s about half an hour’s drive from hotel Porfyron.
